| Attending an auction of the recently deceased and mysterious Michael Meyrick, a man rumored to be an Arch-druid as well as a physic, Aideen Godwin buys a crate not knowing what was inside. What she finds is a red stone and a diary that is centuries old and very rare. Aideen learns that the stone is called the Bloodstone and whoever controls it has power unimaginable. Holding the stone, Aideen falls into a restless sleep where the stone reveals many secrets to her.
Cenn Crom is a powerful mage and he too, is looking for the stone to save his people from a dark evil that threatens to devour his world. Trying to seek out its location, Cenn sees Aideen and that she has the Bloodstone. He commands her to come to him, but there's just one problem. They are separated by time, a thousand years worth to be exact. Aideen knows about things of the occult. Her father had been a devout believer in the Ancient Rede. He had taught her the ceremonies and rites. He told Aideen she had a special destiny. A destiny she wanted no part of and that drove her away. Now it would seem that fate has other plans and what she wanted didn't count. When Aideen sees Cenn in a dream she is drawn to him with a passion that threatens to consume her. Will she be able to fight the powers of the Bloodstone? Or will she once again be pulled back into the very thing she fled so many years before? This story is written in three parts a present, a past, and a new beginning. It is a tale of dark secrets with steamy passion, betrayal, and a love that transcends time. Aideen is Mistress of the Bloodstone. Will she be able to use it's power to save not one, but two worlds? Will Cenn win Aideens heart, but lose his fight for survival? Ann Vremont creates a world of dark magic and evil sorcerers, who would change the world, as we know it. This is a story about the power of love and its never-ending battle over evil. I became totally immersed in the pages of this book. Ann Vremont is an author to watch for and I'll be looking for more of her books in the future. I recommend this book highly to those with a love for romance with a slightly dark side. I give Bloodstone: Calabi Chronicles Five Hearts for a most enjoyable and memorable story. Enjoy!
