| Mona Rossi is a romance author fallen on bad times. Her sales are in a slump, she is recently divorced, and her ex husband has stolen pretty much everything she had. The only bright spot is the organization of a Writer's Cruise and her reunion with the very sexy vampire Dr. Fausto Silvius. He is in hiding from the vampire hunters that killed nearly his whole family and is one of the ship's doctors on the cruise. Along for the fun are Mona's best friend Tessie and her intended, Fausto's cousin Quintus, a television film crew, a slew of writers, and two of the most inept vampire hunters known to man.
This story is a lot of fun from beginning to end. The author's campy over the top style will keep any reader entertained. The Italian cruise is the perfect setting and the author does a great job of describing the typical cruise experience with a unique twist. I found myself laughing out loud at some of the antics of both the main characters and the vampire hunting couple. There are a couple of interesting twists and turns in the plot as Mona tries to decide whether or not to become a vampire and stay with Fausto forever. The characters are very very Italian with many New York references. I did wonder why a centuries old Roman vampire sounded like he came from Bay Ridge, but it quickly became part of the fun. There is a lot of backstory to this book which would lead the reader to believe that this is not the first book, but this is the only drawback to a truly fun read full of romance and humor and some very sexy Italian vampires.
