Ms. James does a great job conveying the urgency of their plight with sentence structure and words. This is one of those stories that's almost scary in the fact that if things get really screwy it could happen. Thankfully it also seems to conveys a message that there will probably always be good people in the world that will risk anything to make sure it doesn't come to pass.
