This job was Pousse Midnight's last chance at keeping herself off the street or worse, back at her mother's. Signing on as a mercenary soldier wasn't turning out to be her brightest idea. She was captured by two blue skinned warriors named Jonson and Mali in a place they called Mystic Valley, and they were claiming her as a bond mate. Maybe she should have taken that job as a pole dancer.

This book is part of the Mystic Valley series but can be read as a stand alone work. I was entertained by the alternate world of Mystic Valley, although I was extremely glad a glossary of terms was provided. It took absolutely no time to become enmeshed in the culture of the inhabitants of this mystical world. I liked the detail Ms. Cook gave to Mystic Valley and it's characters, since it was the setting of the story that made this such a lush and enticing read.

The back story on all three of the main characters contributed greatly to the dynamics of Pousse's, Mali's, and Jonson's relationship. Each question that arose was intelligently answered or resolved between the three. What started out as a purely sexual bonding for procreation, turned into a much more tender and loving arrangement. In the midst of all the world building and relationship tending are some of the steamiest love scenes on paper. This one is definitely a scorcher, and the way that Mali and Jonson incorporate Pousse into their already cemented relationship is handled nicely. I will be checking out this author's past and future works.
