Ethan Kingsley isn’t one from running until a tragedy overtakes his life and he feels it is an easy out to deal with death, after his star wife commits suicide. He thought his beloved Afton was coping with her multiple sclerosis, but apparently she found a way to really fool him. Losing her left him downhearted. Afton took a positive view when she was diagnosis with the disease, yet Ethan quickly learned she couldn’t really confide in him. He thought he would never share feelings for any woman again until he met Roni Carlin but there are things about Ethan that he doesn’t share with anyone. Veronique Carlin, Roni, for short, owns Roni’s and caters fashions for men and women. She has a different personality once she sets foot out of her store. One side of her can be reserved while the other is spontaneous, outgoing, submissively showing her sensual desires. Not long after meeting Ethan something clicks between them and they respond to their satiable appetite. Ethan notices that he shares more with Roni that he ever did with Afton and something clicks inside him. He begins to question Afton’s life, on the road, when he wasn’t with her. As Roni and Ethan form an even greater bond, someone wants Ethan’s business, his house in Bel Air, and most importantly Ethan dead.

Blue Velvet has a great plot, mixed with suspense and dynamite characters that make it an excellent read. The intriguing story has a way of hooking the reader in this page-turner and keeping them glued until the last page. Ethan is a strong character, torn between many issues, yet he stays strong to his believes and the people he loves. Roni is a feisty woman that doesn’t let anything stand in her way when she wants something. I could almost visualize the moments she spent with Ethan. I always know when I read a Christy Poff story, I am never disappointed. Blue Velvet is another splendid tale that captures the heart and more ways than one.
