| Mariah is close to another stay in the hospital. Her eating disorder has gotten out of control due to the stress of her job as chief meteorologist at a Baltimore T.V. station. The camera adds ten pounds but she is probably about twenty below even that. Her only friend at the station suggests that she go on a cruise advertised on the station bulletin board. She goes under protest; after all, what can go wrong on a luxury cruise. Answer; just about anything you can imagine, but Mariah has a life changing experience and meets the man of her dreams in the owner of the Kokomo.
Mariah is an interesting character, fragile and very strong at the same time. Each member of the cast of characters is damaged in some way and most of them are very sympathetic bar one. Other than Mariah and Simon, I particularly liked Kendra and Martin, the Senator’s son and the ex-model elementary school teacher make a very interesting couple. The author does a wonderful job of describing the Bahamas and life on a sail cruise. They came for beaches and gambling and all got a lot more than they bargained for. Their adventures run from the funny to the tragic and I found myself totally engrossed in the story. Some of the scenes are not for the squeamish, there is violence and unorthodox sexual practices, but this romantic adventure is definitely a good read.
