| Maureen Sinclair is an animal healer. Professor Jack Wolfe brings his horse to her ranch when everyone else has given up on him. Little did he know he’d fall deeply into a mystery and love.
Ms. Cox has penned a tale full of excellent characters. Maureen, Jack, Hank and Bella are the main players but all are well done and believable. The beautiful animals like Wolf, Pegasus, Captain and Veiled Wings are true to form, sometimes heroic. Each of the good guys become like someone you’d like in your life, supporting you if you had a problem. The evil villain would be sad if he wasn’t so well done as a delusional man with nothing that makes us have any sympathy for him at all. The dialogue is priceless. Bella uses her southern belle charm to get her way with police, nurses or anyone else who has a Y chromosome in their genetic makeup. Hank and Jack are always chiming in with their word battles about who is the best man for the job. Maureen herself is a feisty, strong, caring individual with a lot of spunk. Ms. Cox includes almost slapstick comedy that has me laughing out loud at the scenes she’s describing. She can then make an easy transition into tension so thick you can feel it in your bones. There are a few minor glitches that slowed me down a little but, overall, this is an easily read, suspenseful novel showing the real talents of the author.
