Dan Mathis is assigned by his boss to find a country estate to use for an art gallery. His search takes him to an old Victorian era mansion that seems to be perfect. Its only flaw is that a very friendly ghost haunts it. She's on a mission to save young women from a fate worse than death in 1893. Dan travels through time with the help of a crystal chandelier to save the women and have some fun.

Roger Brown weaves quite a tale of love, lust, and mayhem in two different centuries. Dan's boss is quite an egotistic artist with some unusual ideas about things that are artistic. His associates are colorful and I can easily understand why Dan wants to get away from them into the peace and quiet of the countryside. Eve, Dan's ghost in the twenty-first century, is a gentle soul who learns about modern times through TV and radio.

The author puts Dan back in time into a voyeur's heaven as he gets to roam the mansion unseen and unfelt by the young women. The characters and dialogue are a lot of fun most of the time. Delving into the thoughts and dreams of a bunch of teenagers in Victorian times is sometimes hilarious. The plot thickens when we find out what the Kimbroughs who run the academy for orphan girls are really up to. The solution to the problem that Dan and Eve come up with is fraught with pitfalls but Dan definitely feels up to the task. This is one of those light hearted tales that reads almost like a porno film script with sex in progress or pending on every page.
