This award-deserving, amazing novel was an absolute shock to me for several reasons! Number One – I don’t care too much for race cars. Number Two – I’d never before heard of this author. And, Number Three - contemporary romance is not always my first choice genre. My apologies to the author; I was absolutely blown away by this book! And I found, by reading this, that she has other works available, so I definitely will search it out! Now, back to this particular work of art!

Lynn Kelly, an avid fan and Stock Car Racing League columnist, lived with her racing driver brother, Jake. Not only was he her brother; he was also her ex-boyfriend’s, Troy McBride, best friend. That made things tough for all three of them. Lynn caught Troy cheating on her years ago and broke up with him; though she remained furious, she still loved him. Troy never quit loving Lynn, but she refused to have anything to do with him. Poor Jake was caught in the middle.

All three were best friends when Jake and Lynn’s parents were killed and she was critically injured in an automobile accident. Neither Jake nor Lynn had ever seriously grieved nor had they ever gotten past the tragedy. Since Troy’s parents were not “parent-like,” he had felt the Kellys’ were his parents, too. This was not their only sad set of circumstances faced during this magnificent book.

There were many important sub characters in this tale; they were strong, believable, and likeable people. The other drivers and their wives were terrific friends to all; they each played significant roles in each of the main characters’ lives. They were more like family, and when something happened to one, they all rallied together. This book was very poignant; I shed many tears during the reading. However, it was not a sad book!

Again, let me say this is a book not to be missed! It is wonderful; the only thing I could add to this would be a suggestion—could you possibly do a sequel on Jake (and maybe Cassie)? Great Job!
