Julie Merritt is soon to be married, but it seems many of her friends and family don't approve of her groom to be. A chance meeting brings her face to face with ex-boyfriend, Brett Ryerson, who wants to borrow her for a short time to show her the dark side of her future husband.

Brett Ryerson wants Julie back, and the only way to get her again is to show her that her fiancé isn't the man she thinks he is. With the help of her brother, Brett plans to take her places that he'd sooner not, but he needs Julie to fathom that her future husband isn't the man she believes him to be.

Borrowing the Bride was a good novel but, it did take me time to get into it. The plot progressed well, although it started off a bit slow with Brett and her brother taking time to convince her to take the journey to see what her future husband's life was like. The dialogue was rather dramatic, but in a good way, because it showed Julie's fiancé for the dishonest man that he was and made Brett the good guy to help Julie recover from her fiancé's betrayal. The sex scenes revealed the great chemistry these two shared, which was still there from when they were together in the past. What I liked so much about Julie was that she was willing to listen to her fiancé's wrongdoings without any objections because she already had an inkling of what her future groom was like. While with Brett, although he pushed her to take the journey with him, he didn't push for their friendship to become more again until he felt the time was right for them both.

Overall, this author has penned a good romance with a gripping ending that is worth reading if you like your heroines a little on the vulnerable side, but willing to fight for the one she loves when it counts.
