There are two things I’m glad I did not know before reading this book: one, I did not realize that the entire book took place in a mere 24-hour period; second, I did not know that the story would unfold partially through flashbacks! These are not things I am fond ofhowever; I am thrilled I did not know these things before I selected this book because I would have missed out on an emotionally-charged, fantastic book. Ms. Allie Boniface and her first published book are both great and I am honored to review this work of art!

Maggie Doyle needs money fast$15,840, in factby the next morning! Her business is failing and her home is collateral; therefore, if she does not get this money in time, she will lose not only her business but her home as well. Her options are non-existent! Her mother is in an assisted living home, her step-father is deceased, and she has not spoken to her step-brother in six years. Poor Maggie was so desperate to save her livelihood that she was grasping at anything she could imagine.

She had her assistant try to locate her step-brother so she could ask him for the money; she also called her college friend in Boston (about an hour’s drive from home) to try to find him. She and her assistant ended up going to a formal ball in Boston to try to see Dillon, her step-brother, but Maggie ran into Jack Major, the love of her life that she hasn’t seen in ten years. There is a little problem with seeing him because of his high-profile fiancée!

Ms. Boniface has great talent; her characterizations are wonderfully written, and her plot is fresh and poignant. I confess to the shedding of several tears while reading this book. As a newly-published artist, I expect we will hear great things from this lady. This contemporary romance will, I predict, become a great success. I recommend that you read it as soon as possible. You definitely will not be disappointed!
