Lord Oliver Marsden believes his life is just about perfect. His has his small bookstore, a bank account that is livable. Passionate nights with his scrumptious dominant man who gets a bit more domineering when not in the bed chamber. But Vincent loves him and that's all that matters. It's the way he enjoys it. Right? That's just Vincent, the take charge kind of man who firmly has a hold of the reins of control. When Oliver feels that Vincent is ready to give himself totally to him, the threat that Vincent would be forced to marry keeps Oliver from tearing the reins from Vincent's hands. Then Vincent gets a letter that changes everything. Through poor timing on Oliver's part, he takes the chance to take control from Vincent, and pushes him into a passionate night neither will ever forget. Why does giving control to Oliver scare Vincent so much? Only through personal revelation will it be faced.

I absolutely loved this book by Ava March. This historical romance has elements of deep love and passion that pulls at my heart for both these wonderful men. Both are very secure in their self perception, and they love each other through every look and touch. This time in history was very difficult for m/m relationships, and keeping it secret was important as breathing. Unlike today, society was not ready to accept the love and sexuality of two men that were so committed to one another, and yet the passion that sparked when they come together is nothing short than electrifying in its surrender. I love the way the author described how they love one another using descriptive words of desire. The desire to touch one another held back with such difficulty, and their inability to express their true real fears about their future. I was pleased by the passion revealed as Oliver and Vincent address the issues of their time, the pure sensuality when they came together. The fierce independence, and their yearning to spend forever together is so clear in the authors portrayal of societies beliefs at that time in history. I enjoyed the book so much, and have hope that she writes more of this genre and time period. Thank you for the delightful read.
