| Captain Samantha Dorsey, along with the crew of the Bound Virgin, are
drunk one night when they decide it's the perfect time to capture a
wild beast for the scavenger hunt they are participating in. As they
stumble around the planet of Qurilixen in search of a beast, they come
across a giant tiger like creature. They take it captive and put it in
a cage in Samantha's quarters. When Samantha wakes up in the morning,
she is shocked to find a naked man in the cage. While the fact that
there is a naked man in her room is shocking enough, the fact is, she
doesn't even remember how he got there!
Prince Falke of the Var was just minding his own business, stretching his muscles in the shape of a cat, when he was taken captive by Sam and some of her crew. Falke is the Commander of the Var armies and is used to be being the biggest and most fearsome man around. The fact that he was captured by a small woman injures his pride. This doesn't stop him from being very attracted to Sam however. The more he talks to her, the more the attraction grows. Sam plans on dropping him back at Qurilixen, but when she learns that the Bound Virgin is almost out of fuel, it looks like Falke will have to spend a bit more time with her. He doesn't mind. He wants to make love to Sam, and he knows she feels the same, even if she won't admit it. When they finally do come together, it is stupendous! Neither Sam nor Falke can believe the sparks they create together. Unfortunately, there are still problems ahead for them, not the least of which is Falke and Sam's reticence in admitting their growing feelings for each other. Despite their rocky beginning, has Falke finally found his lifemate? Has Sam met her match in the stoic and brave Commander? The Bound Prince is the third story in Michelle M. Pillow's Lords of the Var series, and while it's not totally necessary to have read the previous Var stories, or their predecessors, the Dragon Lords series, much of the lore and culture of Qurilixen will be lost. However, I feel once you read this story you'll definitely be on the lookout for Ms. Pillow's backlist. The Bound Prince is another touching and creative intergalactic creation from the mind of Michelle Pillow. Falke's reserved demeanor may seem like he isn't hero material, but rest assured, when this Commander gives his heart, he gives it with all the love and emotion in his body. Sam is equally confused about her newfound feelings, and she's unsure of how to show Falke that she has fallen for him. Watching these two bungle around each other is funny, moving, and very realistic, lending a touch of the twenty-first century to this futuristic tale. You'll fall in love with this story not only because of the fantastic romance, but because the author so cleverly creates a world of the future that is amazing to read about, but also bares a close resemblance to our own times. This combination of realism and fantasy ensures that every person who picks up the latest Var story is in for a treat.
