| Lowell moves back home to Connecticut to take care of his ailing mother. His new home is next door to Jase, a childhood friend he secretly loved. Jase is recently divorced with a young daughter. Lowell always assumed Jase was straight. As they rekindle their friendship, he isn't so sure anymore. Jase has a special custody arrangement with his ex-wife, even if he is attracted to Lowell it's out of the question. Hard choices have to be made by both men.
A nicely written story about childhood friends who become so much more. The author does a good job of bringing the characters to life as their rekindled friendship deepens to love. There is a lot of conflict coupled with the romance. The supporting characters definitely add to the conflict, particularly Jase's ex-wife. I had difficulty with her personality as she was written so harshly, but in the context of the story it worked. With all the conflict between the two main characters my initial thought was Jase and Lowell were better suited as friends. As the story developed and the conflicts resolved I found myself hoping they would stay together as a couple. The ending is not your typical happily ever after but its right for this story. I think readers will enjoy reading this one.
