| All Deidre Brandenburg wants to do is start a coffee roasting business, and what better time to start than now. Especially since her dear daddy doesn't listen to her ideas in the job she holds in his company. So when she gives him her leave of notice, to say the least he's unhappy and cuts off access to both her apartment and her bank accounts. So what is a woman to do? Move to Konigsburg, Texas, where her cousin lives of course and find a job so she can follow her dreams.
Tom Ames has never had any trouble in the bar he owns until a blonde bombshell in oversized clothes walks through the door and asks to rent the place next door. Only she doesn't have the money to pay the rent because she doesn't have any income. Lucky for Tom, he could use another waitress and offers her a job. This is another great read in the Konigsburg series by Meg Benjamin, and could be read as a standalone, but it would be better for readers to start with the first book in the series – Venus in Blue Jeans. Just because there are secondary characters and a reader might not be able to easily fathom their role in this story. As for the hero, I found Tom a little frustrating at times. Why is it that a man can't accept help from others for just once in his life? Is it too much to ask? Whereas with Deidre, I thoroughly enjoyed her curious nature when it came to her interactions with Tom, and her determination to find her own way in the world without her daddy's interference. The chemistry between the two main characters was there from the first time they met, which is always great. The whole will they or will they not finally be together after their first kiss was also fantastic and there's no denying that their coming together in a bed was well worth the wait. Overall, this book was an engrossing read that just goes to show that even in the worst of situations; a woman can land the man of her dreams. So on a final note, here's a little something for all the women romance readers of the world who remain single - don't give up hope of finding your Mr. Right, even when the chips are down so to say.
