Remi spent the past six years raising her younger brother and sister. Now that they're gone, she's feeling the weight of an empty nest. Her friends force her to get out for a night, and she meets Jason. Their relationship is a bit rocky at the beginning, but as they work through their issues, a strong, resilient relationship emerges.

Remi is a woman I liked from the beginning. I could relate to her willingness to sacrifice for the sake of her orphaned siblings, and for the emptiness she felt upon their leaving. She's not a person who has learned to take chances or stand up for herself. Jason helps Remi discover who she is and what she wants out of life. In return, she helps him see that he is the man he always strove to be. Even though I didn't always understand why they made the decisions they made, and at times I wanted to shake each of them, I couldn't put this book down. Remi and Jason were visceral and real, and I love realistic, flawed characters who find true happiness. It gives me hope, and that's why I read romances in the first place.

The writing style is easy and friendly, flowing from one scene to another with natural grace. My one criticism is there were several instances when scenes were summed up or told in retrospect, but these didn't interfere with my enjoyment of the story. If Ms. Jamieson were to revise this story at a later date, she could look to adding some of those scenes to heighten the emotional impact. That said, I loved this novel. It was hot and real, and it ran the gamut of true human emotion to provide a fulfilling, emotional love story. Don't miss this one!
