If there’s one thing Allie McAllister knows, it’s how to work a room. Dubbed the infamous Alley Cat, she mixes drinks and auctions off body shots at The Guild, whipping the crowd into a drunken, sex-heavy frenzy while she tries to reclaim her groove. Burned one too many times, she’s sworn off men and complicated relationships. To fulfill her physical and creative needs, however, she’s stumbled upon the perfect solution: in her spare time, Allie chooses a budding male author to whom she’s attracted and, for six months and no longer, she’ll be his mentor, tutor and lover, teaching him exactly what it takes to make women melt within the pages of his book—and bringing those fantasies to life.

Then the Alley Cat meets the attorney... and wonders if some rules aren’t meant to be broken.

Adam Carlton has never lamented his lack of creativity, not when he’s been so successful in the courtroom. But when he meets the Alley Cat, he soon realizes that one shot taken off her luscious body is far from enough. Intrigued by her easy combination of sex appeal and sharp wit, Adam is determined to see Allie as frequently as possible – but how? Then it hits him: he’ll claim that he wants to write a book. Though he’s only ever written legal briefs, Adam will do anything to see Allie again and again—but what will happen when she discovers he never intended to write a book at all?

Author Monica Robinson does an outstanding job in creating characters that seem real, complex and genuine, yet not outrageously perfect. Amidst their good qualities, Allie and Adam have enough flaws to render them nearly alive. Robinson has created a storyline that holds the readers interest well, and has very few lapses in continuity. Although I would have expected more scenes from an erotic romance, the love scenes she’s included are well-written, realistic and steamy hot! Breaking All the Rules is a delightful tale that starts out as little more than a one-night stand and winds up being a true romance. Kudos to Monica Robinson—this one is a keeper!
