While he was gone two of Devon's servants found a young girl on the grounds who was unconscious and near death. They nursed her back to health and gave her a job working on the estate. The young woman named Raven had no knowledge of who she was or where she had come from but she was grateful for the help she was given. She tended the gardens and found pleasure in her roses.

It was in the gardens among the roses is where Devon first saw her from the window of his library. At first he thought he had seen a ghost, the girl was an exact twin of Lady Katherine. When he stood close to her he realized the resemblance was uncanny yet she was not Katherine. Yet there was something about Raven that captivated Devon. He had her moved into the main house and soon she was being groomed into a lady. Devon was beginning to feel the stirrings he thought had died with Katherine. But there was a dark past to Raven and he was intent on finding it and helping her to remember all that was lost.
