Bridget McGuire lived with her two brothers, Joey and Dylan, at the asylum for orphaned and abandoned children for the last eight years. Their father had been a notorious man named Black Jack. He stole bank robbery money from Eddie Bruce. He hid it in a cave before he was murdered and only Bridget knew where it was hidden. Eddie was due to come up for parole in a few months and the McGuire children were easy targets. Myra Blankenship ran the home and requested to speak to Bridget. She had a proposal to bring to Bridget, something she thought could protect them and her orphanage.

Lucky Livingston had one goal, to kill the man who raped and murdered his mother, Eddie Bruce. His half-brothers came up with a plan to draw Eddie to Lucky. Would Lucky agree?

This was an easy read western romance. The plot was predictable in parts but with a twist, giving it more substance. One part of the story I found endearing was Bridget with her brothers. She was their protector, no matter where they ended up. Lucky was a handsome lady's man who could lie believably. The Livingston's Aunt Trudy was a woman after my own heart. Nosy, sweet, and with a backbone of steel. To her, family was everything. The only thing I would have liked to see more was the author giving the characters a little more depth.
