Riley Ellison has self esteem issues. When Riley looks in the mirror, he sees a nerd who, no matter how long he's a cop, will never be cool. His obsession with the sexy man at the coffee shop keeps his mind on that fact. Dane, the coffee shop hunk, turns out to be connected to a victim Riley is investigating.

Dane Scott has watched Riley walk in to the coffee shop and order the same thing every time. He watched him long enough to figure out that the shy boy next door was a cop but he never expected the cute and sexy man to show up at his door, badge out, telling him that a co-worker had been killed.

There were times when transitions between scenes and paragraphs weren't very cleanly made. I felt put off by this. While this book is said to have suspense in it, I don't really agree. The crimes are solved so quickly that it holds no real bearing on the story other than a way for Riley to actually talk to Dane. The sex in this story, both the act itself and the amount of time until it happened, progressed a bit too quickly for me. The point of view changed more often than was really needed but the plot was interesting. I have to admit that overall, even with its faults, this book kept me interested. While the book wasn't something I put off dinner or sleep to continue reading, it still deserves praise for the interesting characters and the great relationships between them -- not to mention loving and sexual plotline. I wonder if anyone else will notice the occasional British colloquialisms in the story the way that I did. M.L. Rhodes may not have exactly a masterpiece with this book but if you are willing to overlook its flaws, you will find yourself reading a pretty good book with a cute ending.
