| Sarah has been on the run for two years, barely scraping by when she meets Quinn at the same home where she has come to rent a room. Quinn is a bounty hunter who takes special interest in catching criminals who prey on women and children. They are immediately attracted to each yet they both have secrets. Quinn's childhood has taught him not to form attachments and Sarah has too much at stake to trust anybody. Their attraction to each other soon takes over but then Quinn discovers Sarah is his next case.
I don't know where to start this review. After finishing Broken, I was speechless with how much emotion was packed into the book. Walker excels at writing dynamic characters with so much emotional angst that the reader can't help but be drawn into their lives. The reader knows that both Quinn and Sarah haven't had the easiest lives but we're left to wonder about Sarah more so than Quinn. Quinn's childhood problems gains the readers sympathy early in the book. His moral fiber as an adult has the reader falling in love with him. Sarah is more complex we don't know why she is running but we know the passt two years have been hard on her. They slowly get to know each other but there is nothing slow about the pacing on this book. Their relationship takes center stage and will keep you turning the pages long into the night as you try to figure out if and when their past will finally catch up to them. Everything falls into place perfectly, especially their relationship slowly taking off due to their hesitancy to trust. There was a great balance between each of their POVs. I really enjoyed how Quinn came to realize how much Sarah meant to him, and how he reacted! Their sex scenes were emotional and super steamy. The suspense kept me guessing right up until close to the end and I couldn't believe the ironic twist at the ending. Luke and Devon's (from Fragile) appearance was a special treat. Shiloh Walker is definitely a master at romantic suspense!
