Sabrina has two Oscars® to her name and an award winning play; all after she was severely scarred in a fire. The fire not only scarred her skin, but also her confidence, her self-esteem, and her relationship with her family.

Sabrina grew up on her family’s soap opera. After a fire on the set, she lost touch with her family; Sabrina felt like they could not accept her new, flawed, body and pushed them away emotionally until they left. Her fiancé David Shelby, an actor on the show, could not accept her scars and he called off the wedding. Sabrina had to suffer through reconstruction and skin grafts alone. She met Brian Richards in the hospital and they became best friends. Brian is the one that convinced her that she had to put the past behind her and to return to her family’s soap. Her family, with a few exceptions, welcomes Sabrina back into their lives with open arms and love. David decides that she is his ticket to getting everything he wants even if it ruins her to get it.

Ms. Hurn does a very nice job making most of the characters as real as possible. Sabrina is talented and beautiful, but very insecure about herself and her relationships. Brian is wonderful; he is strong, loving, and can only see the good in Sabrina. . I wish that some of the other characters, such as her parents, had been fleshed out as well as Sabrina and Brian. This is a very sweet story, and a very enjoyable book.
