| Ashlyn Flanagan opened Lavender Lace, a lingerie store. Her talent was making women feel good about themselves. She had been in love with Llyr, a Celtic god of the sea, for 500 years. When his workload would allow, he would visit her for weeks at a time. He helped her assist the women in this book learn how to dress underneath her clothes to feel sexy. One of those ladies, in this first in the Lavender Lace Series, was Marci Bayne. She was forty years old, single, and the president of Marshall Media. She had a bad experience with a co-worker she had an affair with. Ben had crucified her reputation a few years ago and she refused to get involved with anyone else who worked for her. And then she met her newest Vice President, Keefe Donegan.
I previously read the second book in the series and was anxious to read this first one. It didn’t take away from the enjoyment (reading them out of order) but it was easier to understand all the players after reading this book. Keefe Donegan decided to relocate to Seattle after his engagement when wrong. He thought it would be good for a change of scenery and commitment. He had no intentions of getting involved with another woman so soon. That worked, until he met Marci and, immediately, became attracted to her. They had a wild weekend together before he actually went to work for her. He had to admire her purchases from Lavender Lace. When Monday arrived, she refused to have anything to do with him emotionally. This book was an exceptionally well-written book about attraction, love and how to work through obstacles. The sensuality was explosive, the frequency was repeated, and the outcome was unbelievable. The main characters were well developed—this wasn’t just a sex book. Both were likeable and believable. The conclusion was a big surprise and totally unexpected. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a romance with sizzling sex, a great storyline, and a beautiful ending. You’ll be glad you read it.
