Genevieve Boden uses her status as a witch to keep others away. Her solitary existence and loss of her powers are her penance for past sins and she's not ready for anyone to intrude. She doesn't have much of a choice, though, when Alex Rivera shows up on her porch bloody and barely conscious. Luckily, her healing powers reappear and she's able to heal him. Alex doesn't know about Genevieve because he's new to the area, but he knows there is something special about her given how quickly he's healing. Only the appearance of his attacker can dampen their attraction.

What better way to start a story than by jumping right into the action? That's what happens in this story. Not only does Genevieve find Alex bleeding on her doorstep, but she also discovers her powers have returned all within the first few pages. The fast pace of the opening slows and allows for the burgeoning relationship between Genevieve and Alex to grow.

With the slower pace, both Genevieve and Alex shine. They are wonderful characters who bring out the best in each other. Though Genevieve is against having anyone in her home, Alex melts her resistance with his easy charm and open acceptance of her gifts. And Genevieve helps Alex face his own demons and realize there may be more to him than he thought. They are a perfect balance for each other and their scenes are both tender and sizzling hot.

Everything about this story is enjoyable, from the beginning to the end. There are enough little twists to keep readers guessing until the details are revealed, each at exactly the right moment in the story. The ending is completely satisfying and perfect for the story. This is a story I would gladly recommend to anyone who enjoys a good romance, especially one with a touch of the paranormal thrown in.
