| Kent Jameson is one of Aztec Security's finest agents but he really does not want to train new recruit Cadence Fleming. She is too smart and too beautiful and he feels that she is looking down her nose at him just like the smart girls in high school. Cadence joined Aztec to get closer to Yancy Adams who is now going to marry Mauve O'Connor and is now heartbroken but determined to make good with her new career. Her trainer is the obnoxious Kent, who shows up her first day at work smelling like booze and sex. He shows her no respect and less patience. A retreat at Aztec's survival camp may just be the end of both of them; a serial killer is using the Everglades as his dumping ground.
This story has a great love story with many twists and turns. Kent and Caddy are nothing alike and clash from the beginning. I really enjoyed this part of the story. Caddy's training, however could have been more thoroughly researched, particularly her firearms training. A police issue Glock carries sixteen, not seven rounds, the recoil is negligible, and the clips are not disposable, just for a start. The suspense portion of the story takes place in the Everglades; an intimidating location even if there is not a crazed serial killer after you and that part was very exciting. The author really had me at the edge of my seat at this point. Overall, this was a very good story that held my interest until the end.
