| Ceana saved her brother from a sea witch, only to be captured by her in his place. Cursed by the witch, she's forced to live in the sea as a mermaid until the full moon each month, when she turns into a human. When that happens, she is forced to go to some kind of land or she will drown painfully, only to come back again. Sometimes when she comes ashore, her siren call is so strong to humans that she's had to save them from drowning… Years later, this time seems like any other, until she realizes that the attraction she feels for Ian is stronger than anything she's felt before. Could he be the one to break the curse?
Ian is a werewolf who loves the moon and all it stands for. A long time ago he was rescued from the sea by a beautiful woman, and while he searched for her, he knows that there is no way she could be alive now. After all, his kind lives a long life and too much time passed for the woman to still be alive. When he hears a voice calling to him from the sea, it sounds very familiar and he can't stop himself from trying to find the one it belongs to. Call of the Sea is an entertaining story, but there was something about Ceana that just didn't click with me, she didn't draw me in like the other characters. I liked Ian and his rough ways; the way he reacted to Ceana was just what I would have thought he'd do. I didn't miss the irony of a werewolf not believing in Mermaids, I found that to be amusing. I would have liked to have understood more about Ian's family and the interactions between them; it seemed to be a tight family unit. I had an excellent time reading Call of the Sea and I will definitely keep Michelle M. Pillow on my auto-buy list.
