| Some thought she was crazy for leaving New York for the wilds of Black Wolf, Pennsylvania. Veterinarian and new wildlife manager, Karin, just preferred her predators to walk on four feet instead of two. In the course of rescuing, caring for and defending an injured wolf (from what feels like the whole town) Karin meets an unlikely ally in Malcolm.
Malcolm keeps to himself and only chanced to meet Karin. He can’t help but admire her spirit and her determined care for animals. That chance meeting raises questions Malcolm had long thought been answered. Can he trust her... or is his heart gone for good. Gale Stanley grabs you by the throat from the first page and manages to build the suspense from there. The characters are well written and believable. Karin is struggling to overcome fears that have followed her from New York. At times you can feel the anxiety she battles to carry on day to day. Malcolm presents a wounded were-shifter. Your heart bleeds for him and all that he has been through. The antagonists are both blatant and devious. Stanley makes some of the bad guys easy to spot and easy to hate. However, she reveals one later that reminds you that some people are not what they seem. The action is quick and nonstop. There are surprises and twists you never saw coming and really make the story a page turner. The love scenes are so very well placed and paced that they really enhance the storyline. Not to mention, man, are they hot!
