All of us who enjoy a little mystery and intrigue along with our titillation will discover a real treat in CALYPSO'S SECRETS. Ms. Kane has successfully combined good old-fashioned suspense with a really hot and sensual love story. It is one of the most delightfully entertaining yarns I've read in quite a while.

Skylar Connelly accepted a job as a swimming coach for the nephew of a very rich man, Martin Escalle.

Escalle's head of security, Luke White, wants to know what a former Olympic Gold Medallist is doing working as a babysitter in the Florida Keys. And why didn't she mention she was the former Olympian?

The boy's last swimming tutor disappeared rather suddenly without explanation. The local police believed she'd run off with a man and closed their investigation. Skylar knew better. The former coach was her younger sister, Maia. Skylar hadn't heard from her since she received an e-mail saying Maia suspected criminal activity and intended to sneak aboard the Calypso to check it out.

Skylar's only choice was to take over the job her sister's disappearance left vacant and investigate on her own. She would find Maia and rescue her. If Maia is still alive, that is.

All of the occupants of Casa Del Mar on Coral Key seemed suspect, especially the security chief and captain of the Calypso, Luke White. Skylar couldn't fight her overwhelming attraction to the man she suspected of the possible murder of her sister. He was patronizing and infuriating. He was arrogant, cocky and he was hiding something. Skylar still couldn't resist his allure. Could she really love someone capable of what she suspected?

No one warned her before she arrived that her new charge, eight year old Christopher Whitfield, was deathly afraid of water since his fifth birthday when he'd witnessed his father's death by drowning. Her new employer, Martin Escalle, was a harsh and controlling man who insisted his nephew charge right in and overcome his fears. He still forced the boy to go out on the yacht where his father died. He was certainly insensitive and maybe a little cruel, but was he involved in criminal activity? Was he capable of murder to cover it up? Was he responsible for Maia's disappearance?

Christopher's mother, Angelique, was actually a tigress of a mother and obviously loved her son. However, her brother, Martin, completely undermined her where the boy was concerned and kept them mostly separated. He insisted Angelique stay very busy with charity causes and hindered her effectiveness as a mother.

One of the most frightening inmates at Casa Del Mar was a muscle-bound flunky named Bill whose leering grin left Skylar cold. She disliked him immediately. She could sense his menacing character lying just under the surface. Skylar had no problem suspecting Bill of criminal activity, but did he have anything to do with Maia's mysterious disappearance?

Martin Escalle's lover, Yvette, had fallen out of favor. She'd recently attacked Escalle in a jealous rage and thrown her drink in his face. Now she was dead of an overdose of sleeping pills. The police ruled her death a suicide, but Skylar suspected murder.

Skylar couldn't tell if she was making any headway in her investigation. But then, someone tried to shoot her and Yvette was found dead on the same day. Something was about to happen because things were beginning to come unraveled. Skylar decides she had no choice but to sneak aboard the Calypso to check it out. The same action that was Maia's very last.
