| WOW! What an astounding book! Dr. Carrie Reed, a genetic veterinarian, has always been inquisitive and has pushed herself for more and more knowledge. When she is invited to travel to Alaska to the River View Canyon Ranch to investigate a suspected “new” breed animal—part moose, and part bear, she only has to a few things to do before she can go. The worst thing pending is a conversation with her mother explaining where she is going and why.
For anyone who, as an adult female, has had to face an energetic mom, this conversation is noteworthy! Even if the rest of the book had been awful (and it absolutely was not, by the way) it would have been worth buying the book just for this laugh-out-loud exchange! The book was worth reading even before I had read ten pages, and it just kept getting better. I sat through the entire read without stopping! The beginning was spectacular, the middle maintained that same high standard, and, in my opinion, the shocking conclusion achieved an enviable award winning status! Carrie flew as far as the airlines went, too a remote flight to meet Jake Canyon and stayed overnight in the Barrow Inn before Jake flew several hours to the ranch. After supper the first night, they were attracted to each other and the sparks flew! The heat just escalated throughout the story; the obviously sensual escapades between the two were scorching and frequent, but not distasteful! Their consuming passion is constantly evident and intertwines with the out-back setting of the remote area and the few ranch hands. They are closely knit together, but each personality remains strong. This book is one which makes me glad to have been able to read it. This author will be, I expect, at the top of the best sellers’ list for a long while. Her plot has been expanded in such a way that it has no low points and each high point just gets better and better! I loved this book and highly recommend it!
