Mariah Kelly is home! Returning to Texas after two years at an eastern boarding school has only confirmed that this is the only place for Mariah. And that the feelings she has for Silver Eagle are as strong as ever.

Silver Eagle has long denied his feelings for Mariah out of respect for her family and his employer. When he is accused and jailed for a crime he didn't commit, their feelings for each other break the boundaries of race and society. Will they be able to stand together between the tribe and her family? Will they find who truly committed the crime? Only by risking all they have will they be able to see what the future could be.

This was a great love story. I could picture this being played out on the big screen. The writing was fluid and enthralling. Henderson writes characters that the reader can believe in and care for. You laugh at Mariah's witty comments and cheer for her independent forward thinking.

The portrayal of the west and the very tenuous relationship with the Native Americans was touching. The author paints a graphic picture of the animosity most townspeople felt for the natives. Silver Eagle walks a shaky path between the two worlds. His strength is one of the shining lights in this story.

The story is a bit predictable concerning the crime committed. There really in no guesswork as to who the real culprit is and you can easily guess the outcome.

If you want a charming and poignant read, this is the book for you. I am hoping Ms Henderson will write Tanner's story as I look forward to reading how he finds out that skirts can give a body more that grief.
