Carnal Machines is a collection of fourteen short stories set in the supposedly prim and proper Victorian era. The editor, D. L. King, and an amazing group of contemporary erotica authors have created an anthology of "Erotic Steampunk" complete with ships flying the solar winds in space, clockwork sex toys, and some very naughty Victorians. It seems that the repressed subjects of Queen Victoria were definitely not so chaste in private.

The book is a fun read of sexy tidbits, short stories that will keep you hot and bothered and wanting more. The stories are highly erotic and very imaginative. The steampunk genre calls for stories with fantastic inventions from steam-powered machines to clockwork automatons, and these stories definitely fill the bill. I found every one of them to be utterly unique. There is nothing predictable about Carnal Machines so whether you are picking it up for a quick fiction-fix, or settling in for a long evening, you'll enjoy these startlingly different stories.
