| Carnal Sacrifice is the final installment in Lacey Alexander's Brides of Caralon series. It is youngest daughter Laela's turn to get married. She is hoping for another successful match like her elder sisters but instead, her father barters Laela off to Ogran of the Mountains. Not only is Ogran old enough to be Laela's grandfather, but he's a wicked and dissolute man who isn't afraid to take Laela by force. Laela can't stand the thought of marrying him, so in her fear and anger, she flees her home, heading to the nearby village of Myrtell.
When a beautiful woman bursts into Garon's tavern, he is taken aback but agrees to hide her from the royal men searching for her. In exchange for his help, Laela must allow Garon use of her body. It sounds like a horrible bargain, but all Laela can think about is how handsome and enticing Garon is. She's secretly lusted after him for some time now, so despite the danger she is in, Laela becomes excited at the prospect of discovering pleasure at Garon's hands. But are Laela and Garon getting more than they bargained for when they come together in an explosion of passion and sensuality? Lacey Alexander closes the Brides of Caralon series with an impassioned and salacious story of unexpected love. Garon is a tavern owner, an ordinary man of means who is comfortable in his life. Laela is a princess, the prized daughter of a powerful man. Neither knows what to expect from each other, which makes the mysteries and delights they discover in each other's presence that much more provocative. Laela seizes her own power and future by leaving behind all she has ever known, and in the process, discovers a sultry love. Garon, hurt in the past by a woman, doesn't want to love Laela, but her bewitching personality and her compassionate nature make it hard to resist her. Their love is as tempestuous as the circumstances that sent Laela fleeing from home, but it is anchored by a powerful and emotional bonding of the soul. This story, though part of a series, stands on its own quite well. It's an adventurous erotic romance and not for the faint of heart. Love scenes involving ménage a trois', voyeurism, women only, and anal play make this a powerful story of love. Ms. Alexander doesn't use gratuitous sex, but rather, she uses the emotional ties of lovemaking to further her story and enhance her characters. Don't pass up Carnal Sacrifice.
