Cassie Michaels has inherited from her recently deceased uncle a cabin with land in Texas, and makes the trip with the idea of fixing it up to sell, and then returning to her life in New York. She meets Sex Personified Himself, namely Hawk Downs, neighbor and friend to her Uncle Barney. From the moment she first spots Hawk, at the airport upon arrival, she has an overwhelming urge to strip him down and squirm all over him. And once Hawk meets Cassie, it takes less than a couple of hours for their mutual smoldering lust to explode, and they end up in bed together.

Hawk is a wealthy rancher who underneath his flirtatious manner has been waiting for a long time to meet the right woman to start a family. While Cassie is enjoying the no-ties hot sex she thinks she is getting, Hawk is beginning to wonder if he might be falling in love with her. And for some reason he has a serious problem with forgetting the condoms....and making her forget them too. Cassie discovers her feelings about Hawk are beginning to change when she finds herself thinking the big "L" word when he comes to mind. She debates about whether there might be more involved than just yummy hot sex. But naturally something has to cause a rift between them and she becomes suspicious that Hawk is keeping something from her. The fact that he seems preoccupied at times doesn't help. Does this have something to do with the fact that oil is in the area and that it might possibly be on her inherited land? Is Hawk playing with her? Is he just using her? Things start to fester when Cassie finds a fax sent to him, referencing her land. Instead of talking to her about it, she feels he goes out of his way not to say anything, and in her disillusionment, she attempts to break off their relationship by flying back to New York early without letting anyone at the ranch know.

This story is well written, with lots of great sex, a bit of suspense, and a bit of surprise. Cassie and Hawk are good strong characters, and very likable. The passion between the two right from the beginning is very believable, the story flows smoothly, and the plot is entertaining. If you enjoy a great sexy romance, then this story is just for you. I certainly enjoyed it.
