| Carolyn Madison is a woman clutching at the reins. No longer willing to sit idly in the background, she is trying to get a hold of herself, her family, and her business. Just as Carolyn makes her stand and is ready to confront her snake of an ex-husband and take over the company her father left her, her ex is murdered leaving her and her family on the suspect list. As Carolyn attempts to get to the bottom of the mystery to protect her family, she begins to explore the feelings she has carried locked inside for her first love and close friend Walt Tollhouse. Walt has loved Carolyn since he was in his early twenties and has hoped that someday she would let her walls down and realize that she loves him to. Now that she has, he is determined to keep her safe as she looks into the murder of her ex.
The Catalyst was an okay book. To me the dialogue left a lot to be desired. It seemed too scripted and didn't really flow naturally. In addition, the supporting characters seemed a little unrefined to me. The storyline had enough going on to keep you interested. A little action and adventure with the danger sprinkled in here and there. It was a good mixture. As far as the murderer though, that kind of left you staring at the book asking yourself "Really? Is that all I'm going to get?" The identity of the killer was not really a mystery at all, but it was okay because of the way the author kept the story line going, but the apprehension of the killer was a little lackluster. The romance part ended beautifully, the suspense part was a little disappointing. Overall, I enjoyed reading the story of Carolyn and Walt as they explored the love they should have shared a long time ago. It was a sweet story that really made you care what would happen to them
