Growing up on Prince Edward Island, another red haired girl of the Doyle family, Sandy found it hard to be as carefree as the other women in her family. Jumping at the chance to go to the Big City at the first opportunity, always attempting to distance herself from her home, her accent, her way of thinking..but certain things, very often, you just dont forget from your childhood, and with Sandy she couldnt forget her mothers constant favorites: Blood speaks and No Doyle woman ever settled for crumbs from the table.

Sandy is happy with the way her life is now. She has worked very hard to get to the point where she now stands. But she still finds herself wondering is the reason she hasnt mentioned her lover to her mother because she knows deep inside that she is settling for crumbs? Do she and Pat really have anything in common? Her lover, who is also her boss, Pat Petrelli, is just about perfect in her eyes, but their four week old affair seems to be a bit odd. Her inkling that there might be more going on than she knows about is reinforced on the charter trip put together by him, and this enables her to realize that what she thought she wanted, and what she found she really deep inside needs, are two entirely different things.

This story is very short but absolutely complete, and it is a wonderful story. Every modern woman can put herself into this scenario and then be able to ask herself am I settling for crumbs from the table? I found it wonderful that Sandy could take the initiative with something she felt was the right thing to do. Definitely recommended reading.
