| Her employer is dead. Karma Santiago thinks he was murdered but no one will believe her. Blake Alexander, Henry's grandson, believes someone killed him for his political beliefs. The leader of the opposing faction seems to enjoy killing. Lou seems to want anyone who questions her decisions dead. Instead of killing Karma, Blake finds himself becoming attracted to her.
Sonja Foust writes a love story with a vicious female villain. She and Blake are definitely different types of cats. He's more of a big pussy cat while Lou is more a vicious jungle animal who likes to feed on anyone smaller or weaker. Karma is a great character who seems to have lived through some real hardships with her ex. I want to think the author hints that he and Lou would have made a good pair. Given very little time Karma and Blake work quickly building their love story into something that has to survive the machinations of the evil Lou. This is a well crafted story.
