| On a dark, rainy and snowy night, when the wind was howling and it was
impossible to drive on the wet roads, Dane McAndrews met the woman of
his dreams. As they played a flirtatious game of car tag, danger met
them in the face in a near destructive car accident. When they both
arrive at a motel, there is only one room available. Though they agree
to take it, the mystery woman, whom Dane has nicknamed Miss Mouse,
lets him know that if they go into that room together, she will be in
charge. What ensues is a night of unbelievable pleasure as Miss Mouse
ties Dane up and has her way with him. He has to give all control to
her and she definitely enjoys it. However, when morning comes, she's
gone, leaving behind an envelope containing two fifties and a note.
Dane can't believe she would pay him for their night together. He
wasn't a gigolo darn it!
What happens next however is even more unusual. Dane can't get Miss Mouse out of his head, but when he meets her at the company that he is consulting for, he's shocked. Miss Mouse turns out to be Leigh Greenwood and now he's being forced to work with her in lieu of his normal partner Sam McBride. Let the fireworks begin! The game of cat and mouse that they started in the motel is about to continue on the corporate level. Cats and Dogs is a fun read that will surely please readers because Dane McAndrews proves to be a very fascinating character. His wit, his subtle sarcastic comments, and his fascination with Leigh all combine to create one heck of a wonderful guy. His struggle to come to terms with what is going on with his business and what is going on with his heart is what kept this story interesting for me. Leigh was an average heroine to me, but Dane stuck out in my head because his presence in this story was so forceful. Ms. Madison's combination of an intriguing corporate plot, Leigh and Dane's attraction, and Dane himself kept me interested in this novel. It is a fun way to spend a few hours and Cats and Dogs is definitely an intriguing debut novel, the first I've read by Robie Madison.
