Sam hasn't been home in awhile. He's a feline shifter who grew up in a pack of wolves. Feeling like an outsider most of his life, he now resides in the city. When a loved one dies, Sam goes home to pay his respects. Gus, a fellow wolf pack mate, is going home too. These two have never been close but things are about to change. An unexpected attraction is unnerving. Besides, Sam is harboring a secret. A cat and dog in a loving relationship is the least of their worries.

I had a blast reading this one for so many reasons. Reason one being it is one of the most enjoyable shifter stories I've read in a quite some time. A shifter story with a difference. I thought it was very clever of the author to have the shifters retain some of their innate animal characteristics when in human form. The story is told in both cat and dog's point of view. Great characterization, the secondary characters in all their oddity added some humor and balance to the story. My personal favorite though is Sam. He's sex on a stick. And speaking of sex, it's frequent but I question why lube wasn't used or explained. The connection between Sam and Gus is very real and loving. There were one or two issues with continuity, I felt I'd missed a page and had to go back and reread. All in all, it's an endearing cute story I'm sure you will want to read.
