Silje Nordstrom, a Norwegian cat shape-shifter, is starting over in New York, with a new identity. She's still working for Department 57 - the covert government agency for Talents, still alone, and still too sexually inhibited to find the mate she needs. She’s sent to a male strip club on an operation to find the dealer for a dangerous new designer drug and finds herself transfixed by two Brazilian strippers. Devante and Aristides, the shape-shifting strippers, seem so into each other there isn’t room for anyone else. But things aren't always as they seem. Together, the men show Silje exactly what she's been missing. However, they still have to find the source of the dangerous and addictive drugs. The Talent's enemy, the terrorist organization the PHR, is involved and if Silje's not careful her new men could end up caught in the middle.

I only wish I knew about Department 57 earlier! The previous books are apparently out of print but will hopefully be reissued soon. That is how much I enjoyed this book, I couldn’t wait to read more books in the series and went looking for another. The author did a great job of developing the characters in just a few words. I loved how the shape-shifters were related to local lore rather than rely on the same old standard Others. While this is not a suspense novel the plot certainly had enough tension to keep the pages turning while the relationship between Silje, Devante and Ari, the real story, explodes and the passion just leaps from each page. The love between Devante and Ari might make some readers uncomfortable. I thought it really added an enticing and inventive aspect to the book. The sex scenes were powerful and passionate without us losing sight of danger and suspense of the storyline.
