| Andy Rodriguez, a shape-shifting jaguar who works as a Dallas cop, has always desired his partner, Emily Hawkins, but has absolutely no intention of giving in to the ache her blatant teasing constantly arouses in him. Still haunted by the memory of his former lover's brutal murder five years ago, he refuses to allow another fragile mortal into his life or his bed. Em doesn't know he's a shape-shifter, and he has no intention of involving her in his world where a war between true shifters and werewolves constantly wages. But Em knows how to take care of herself, and when a werewolf (in human shape) attempts to take advantage of her, she strikes back where it will hurt him the most; kicking her right into the middle of Andy's war whether he wants her there or not.
In Cat's Eyes, Crista McHugh has created a well-paced story brimming with action, suspense, shapeshifters, weres, lots of witty banter and even more hot sex. Her characters are so well-defined that the reader knows right from the start who she wants to win, and who she hopes will end up with a silver bullet in their heart. I especially liked the way Ms. McHugh defined the difference between shifters and weres, and how shifters can change shape without losing their clothes in the process. I thoroughly enjoyed Ms. McHugh's tale, and look forward to reading more from her very soon.
