| Living alone on a small farm in the North Carolina mountains, divorced and unable to have children of her own, at the advanced age of thirty nine, Essie was more or less resigned to her lonely existence. The appearance of a bleeding, fully winged, anatomically correct and utterly gorgeous angel wasn't something Essie was prepared to deal with. But he sure did inspire some lusty fantasies. Cam-ael is an angel of the Order of Powers, a group of warrior angels. He needs time to heal before he can return to the heavenly battle being waged against demons. Cam-ael has never experienced arousal before, and it's forbidden for him to follow his attraction to its logical conclusion. Essie doesn't want her soul to be damned for corrupting an angel but she finds it harder and harder to keep her hands to herself.
This was a fun, very raunchy, quick read if taken not too seriously. While I enjoyed the premise and Cam-ael's character tremendously, I had some slight problems with Essie. I don't think my first instinct when faced with an injured angel falling from the sky at my feet would be to look at his crotch. Just saying. Essie is evidently just entering her sexual prime because she is obsessed and graphically vocal. Luckily, Cam-ael doesn't mind, but the words sexual predator did cross my mind a time or two. She just comes off as incredibly desperate. I loved the fact that Cam-ael's wings went limp after reaching climax. I thought that little detail was hysterical because Essie thought he was just cuddling her. Overlooking the minor irritants of Essie's character, this was all in all a good story.
