Celia Flynn was inseparable from her three best childhood friends, Robert, Patrick and Freddie, no matter her mother called it unnatural. But when friendship became more sensual, Celia panicked. She couldn't accept that her passion for all three men was normal. She ran from her forbidden lust and from them, never giving their love a chance. Now the war is ending and her feelings of love return full force. She is still guilt ridden about her passion but bitterly regrets her abandonment of the boys and their love. The men are battle scarred mentally and physically, longing for the comfort of home and Celia's love. Celia has discovered what's important, but will she be able to reconcile what she wants versus her mother's expectations? Celia must choose what's best for her life and the life of the three men who never stopped loving her, no matter what people or society's judgments might be.

The Completeness of Celia Flynn is a heartwarming story of the power of love and second chances set in an interesting historical time period. Celia's journey of self discovery is engaging but the emotions and loyalty shown by Robert, Patrick and eventually Freddie also are wonderful. There are touching sexual encounters that emphasize the love possible with a foursome even, or especially when the men were traumatized by war. The love scenes are steamy but still showcase the bond between these special people. Although the story is about the love of 3 men for Celia only Robert and Patrick are home from the warfront at first. There is tension until they get word that Freddie has been shipped home to a hospital for shell shock. They are determined to go to him, even as Celia worries he won't forgive her. The reunion of all four of these special people creates an emotional conclusion. Although it did include a ménage and explored an unconventional relationship, The Completeness of Celia Flynn at its heart is a story of true love overcoming the obstacles of society's prohibitions and the hardships of World War I.
