| Chamberlain De Larah is about to go on an adventure. She has been
saving for a vacation where she will enjoy time out on her boat. But
things do not go as planned and she ends up in a place where danger
and magic exist. Chamberlain goes from present day to a place based on
a medieval society. There, she meets knights in shining armor. Yet
chivalrous is a word she would not use to describe these knights.
Rowan Blackthorn is the knight who discovers Chamberlain. He feels
women are chattel to be used and abused. He takes Chamberlain into his
home but to use her, and not because he is trying to see to her care.
There is an attraction between the two from the very beginning. Their
time together is wrought with danger, but can this knight learn the
value of love?
Chamberlain's Knight is an interesting time-travel romance. The characters are colorfully described and you will find yourself liking or disliking them based on their descriptions. The character of Rowan shows the most development. I disliked him from the moment he first slapped Chamberlain. As one stops to think about history, it's apparent that all things were not always romantic. Knights were people used to being obeyed, and it was normal for them to be arrogant. Rowan is true to the setting and time period, and as he comes to value Chamberlain he softens some. The romance between Chamberlain and Rowan is explosive! When they are not ripping each other's clothes off, they are trying to kill each other. It is hard to imagine the characters living happily ever after at the beginning of the story, but that changes as the tale progresses. Readers will enjoy reading Chamberlain's Knight. I recommend it to those who enjoy magic and romance.
