| Ryan Havens is a local cowboy who is really frustrated about women. He stops at a local tavern, Bubba's, for a drink. There he meets a new barmaid, Erica Smyth, who seems to be a very inept bartender and doesn't really belong there. She is being harassed by a couple of drunken brothers, Hank and Joe Turley, and a brawl breaks out. Ryan decides to be her gentleman rescuer. The fighting leaves Ryan injured and in need of a doctor. Erica no longer has a job, so she needs a new one and a place to live. Erica takes Ryan to the doctor because he can't drive. While at the doctor's, the doctor says Ryan needs to have someone watch over him while he's in a cast and can't do much for himself. Ryan and Erica come to an agreement that perhaps they can help each other while Ryan is healing and Erica is deciding what she wants to do. There is an immediate sizzling attraction between Ryan and Erica, but will their time together lead to something between them?
I really enjoyed the characters of Ryan and Erica. Ryan is a very handsome, charming, sexy cowboy who loves to tease and has always had a way with the ladies. Erica is a beautiful curvy woman with the grace of a dancer and the temper to match her fiery red hair. Erica is surprised by her compelling attraction to Ryan because she has focused the majority of her adult life on her career with no real personal life. Ryan is very surprised by the pull toward Erica because it is as strong emotionally as it is physically and that is completely unexpected. These two stubborn individuals are very well-matched in energy, enthusiasm, sensuality, intelligence and wicked humor. The relationship evolving between them is so very hot and beautifully written by Ms. Barker. The story of Ryan and Erica is very sexy and I recommend it to everyone.
