| A young woman is taken in by an older, wealthy man and showered with all of the wealth and elegance at his command. They agree on a contract that, for a year and a day she will be his protégé. Sound familiar? Add BDSM activities with explicit sex on almost every page and you have a delightful twist to an often-used plot. Dixie, the name Mitchell Wilcox gives to his protégé, is giving us her first hand account of the Charades acted out with her benefactor and many people if he chooses to allow it.
For serious fans of BDSM this is an excellent book. The numerous scenarios will be fun reading. I couldn‘t help but feel an underlying sadness in Dixie. She’s lost in situations beyond her control when Mitchell Wilcox finds her. In many books with BDSM we’re introduced to the characters after knowing that each has some kind of experience in bondage or submission before they meet. We don’t know that about Dixie. She always manages to love her benefactor through whatever he wills her to do. He always manages to put his mark of dominance on her. I felt sad for her while reading the book, not the joy I’d prefer to feel when characters come together. The fact that it does bring forth feelings, that it does pull me into the lives of the characters is why I give it a very good rating. I want a book to involve me in the lives of the characters. Ms. Luna has done an excellent job of that!
