| Cassie Callington is completely human but she's lived near the Shadowpeak Pack's home estate all her life. She and her best friend, Laney, a wolf shifter, are even going into business together and opening a bookstore. Her problem is her uncontrollable attraction to Laney's brother, Jay, one of the Pack's enforcers, who has sworn off human women. After the business dream is cut short, and Jay turns his attention to a female wolf, Cassie decides it's time to move on. But for Jay, it's time to face what he really wants. And he'll have to chase down Cassie to get it.
Chasing Cassie is book 2 in Shadowpeak Wolves series by New Zealand author, Lorna Jean Roberts. Shifter stories are popular no matter where you're from and this is no exception. Cassie is embarrassed that every Pack member is able to sniff out her arousal and knows about her attraction to Jay. There are a lot of trust issues here because of the differences between humans and shifters. Cassie doesn't know if she can believe he wants her after having said many times he won't get involved with a human. Then there's the Pack. How can she live with shifters who don't trust her? From Jay's end, he was betrayed badly by a human woman. He believes he should be able to find a shifter mate, but he can't get Cassie out of his mind. The book is a fast-paced rollercoaster ride of emotions and events. The characters, especially Cassie, are very believable as she tries to work out what's best for her life. There are some secondary plots running through the series that make me want to read more - someone out to hurt Laney or the Pack, and a mysterious man out of Cassie's past. I'm definitely going to follow through with this series and can't wait to see what happens next. Roberts has introduced enough important characters to build a great set of stories. Enjoy.
