| Seth came to Wyoming in the hope of starting a new life. He wanted nothing more than to live in peace and enjoy his new veterinary practice. Sheriff Kasey Whitedove doesn't much like white people nor does he believe a white man could care for animals in the way his people do. He's very disturbed when he realizes that Seth has taken over for the local vet. Sheriff Whitedove is less than welcoming to the new doc. Things get much worse when Kasey realizes that Seth is his mate. As a wolf, Kasey recognizes his mate but as a man, he completely blows it. Seth carries deep scars from the past and Kasey has a fight on his hands to prove himself to Seth. But even as the two try to move forward, old enemies seem to have returned to haunt Seth. Kasey finds himself not only fighting for Seth's trust but also for Seth's life.
Although this yet another werewolf story, the author infuses enough creatively original details to make it stand out. The werewolf culture is interesting and works really well with the plot. It's always a good sign when a story pulls the reader in and makes them care. From the very beginning of the story, Seth grabs hold of your heart and doesn't let go. He's so vulnerable yet so courageous. There were a few times when I wanted nothing more than to slap some sense into Kasey. He does, however, prove himself to be good man and mate. The story tackles bigotry, both werewolf and ethnic, but doesn't get bogged down with it. Emotional and filled with angst, the plot also provides action, mystery and some really steamy sex. Secondary characters add much to the story. There are some truly touching moments between Seth and his best friend Nick. The author also hints at a story about Nick and Kasey's brother Thayne. If you're looking for a fresh and intriguing take on the werewolf theme -- look no further. With really hot m/m sex and tender lovin', as well as a really engaging plot, this one's a hit.
