Now that her father is dead, Juliana Westwood is free to return to her hometown of San Jose. She has been gone since shortly after the prom night accident that killed one friend and seriously injured another. Since she has been gone, she has become a very successful financial analyst and a respected psychic working for the NYPD. Soon after she moves into her new home, she has a dream where a child is kidnapped, so she goes to the police station to report it. She does not expect the officer in charge to be the high school sweetheart she left behind, or that the child is his niece.

This author has done an incredible job of writing a suspense story that is impossible to put down. The characters are very complex and have a lot of baggage from their pasts. Juliana’s past is far more painful than Alex realizes. The supposed Westwood Curse was a terrible burden to her ancestresses. The author doesn’t dwell on the wrongs of the main characters’ pasts unless it is necessary to the story. The plot is very exciting and at one point or another I suspected just about every character in the book including Juliana’s dead father, just because I didn’t like him. Many of the characters could be the kidnapper and the author gives some clues, which take nothing away from a really great ending. I loved the main characters and the subplot of Andrea and James’ growing romance added depth to those characters as well as the story. Juliana’s visions are interestingly described, particularly the new talents she develops along the way. I enjoyed reading about how she and Alex reconnect and overcome the hurts and mistrust; their love scenes are well done and very sensual. Alex has a few surprises in store for Juliana also. This story kept me riveted from the first page until the last.
