Emily Schaffer is one very confused woman. Somehow she's ended up in the middle of nowhere, and about to die. The good thing is she's not alone. The bad thing is she's being whispered to by a beast, one that calls to something within her. Not to mention, a handsome stranger is also there to rescue her from the cold where she's stranded and scared atop a mountain with no memory of how she got there.

At first when I began reading this book I didn't know what to think. I was a little disappointed because it started off slow and was only told in the first person by the heroine. But I'm glad I hung in there and kept reading when the handsome stranger, Richard, and Emily actually started conversing with each other around the thirty-eighth page or so.

Their interactions were quite interesting, as to was learning their backgrounds and what they had both been through. Add to that the fact that their lovemaking was a bit spicy and animalistic, and Emily figuring out that love was the key to controlling Richard's beast and her own, and this book turned out to be a good read in the end. Yet her trust issues were a tad exasperating, especially when Richard had rescued her and treated her with nothing but kindness. Then again, he did have ulterior motives so why shouldn't she have been suspicious.

In conclusion, even though this book was a bit longer than I thought it needed to be, I liked the dialogue and the growing relationship between Emily and Richard. There was also a very fascinating secondary character right towards the end. One that I hope to read more of if there are any future books to follow this one. And lastly, for a woman with endless emotions because her world had been turned upside down, I'm glad Emily decided to put her trust in her savior because they both found the best thing for them – love.
