| Christa Jones is a tiny, shy, innocent, red headed high school girl. With her best friend Tanya she tries out for a dance team called the Demon Dazzlers hoping to win the college scholarship they offer. Kaitlyn Porter, a vampire newly turned and the team's captain, takes an instant interest in Christa. Seems she sets off a chain of events no one could predict by choosing Christa as her human lover.
Savannah Madanelle gives us a great tale of Christa's innocence being like a cloak to hide what she really wants in life. Her character is set up well by the author. She's always had Tanya, her best friend since kindergarten, to help her through every situation. Tanya takes care of the bullies or any problems they face. Her true colors come out as she dumps Tanya without regret for Kaitlyn. Why would she want Tanya when she can have the team captain wrapped around her finger? Like Tanya, Kaitlyn is shown to feel real love for Christa, not wanting to lose her. She's also left in the dust when the opportunity to be immortal is presented to her by Soren. The author gives us a character it's easy to dislike in Christa as whatever values she may have had take second place to power. She's almost scary as the transformation from young innocent runs its course and becomes evil. Ms. Madanelle does a great job with the storyline, the dialogue and the other characters building this to a powerful conclusion. This book stands alone well in the series but reading book one, Kaitlyn's Dance gives us more about Kaitlyn, Soren and the Demon Dazzlers.
